The celebration of strong women on an individual level and the different archetypes that collectively create the fabric of the empowered global female identity. Steel, forged into the female form, is utilized as metaphor for the strength and resilience of all women.
Tribal groups of the world, both past and present, their connections between the masking and performance ceremonies of our ancestors are celebrated concepts within Jodie’s work. The traditional ancient masking and ceremonies are reflected in our modern ceremonies parallel the drive that we have to create characters and perform.
Throughout the last decade Jodie has produced several series of masks, portraits and abstracts all relating back to the exploration of the power that lies behind the way each of us creates and evolves our personal identity.
